Aidan at Manassas

“Thrug and Aidan watched as the Union reinforcements moved closer, at least three regiments. They both looked down their line, realizing that three companies couldn’t possibly hold in open ground against three regiments. Time was not on their side.  A killing blow now, then run for their lives. It was going to be a close thing. The Union artillery commander decided to deal with the Rebel sharpshooters at Henry House. The cannon were served with ease and his men began firing at the house, killing the owner in the process. He sensed something close. He thought, how did I not see this, how did I miss it? The breath caught in his throat. His fear had come true. A short line of Confederate infantry had emerged from the dead ground, they were only eighty yards away, and they were intent on killing.”
